Garden show Ireland

When we got an invitation to attend the Allianz Garden Show at the stunning Antrim Castle Grounds we knew it would be a fabulous day and it was exactly that, filled with flowers, food and fun! As we have just finished our own garden and now thinking of bedding plants, shrubs and trees to add a little theatre the show came at the perfect time to get a little inspiration and inspiring it truly was!

There was something there for everyone from keen gardeners to novices like myself (that's an understatement and a story for another post on the details of my garden!) to those just wanting a day out. There was everything from artisan food stalls, craft tents, live music, flower arranging competitions, some demonstrations and a full area dedicated to kids with face painting, kite making and much more. The event has much more to offer than just gardening.

We all had a fabulous day and the sun made a very welcome appearance! We got to sit out in the sun and enjoy a beautiful lunch, there was so much to choose from we ended up trying from a few and of course had to be followed by some ice cream!

I finally got my hands on some extra large allium bulbs, my brother in law has them in the garden and they are amazing. I got some peony rose bushes for the area beside the girls play house and think it will be the perfect flower for a pretty little area. We couldn't walk passed the facepainting without Bella turning into a beautiful butterfly through Annie wasn't so sure!

The event is on the 6th, 7th and 8th of May and I highly recommend taking a trip! There is even a bar along with the food area so aswell as a plant crèche there is one for the hubby's too if gardening isn't their thing.

If you take a trip there over the weekend let me know how you get on!
